Testberichte.de Rebranding

Testberichte.de is a German comparison portal that helps people make informed purchasing decisions by aggregating and standardising results from hundreds of professional test magazines, expert reviews, user opinions and product data into easy-to-understand scores, rankings and guides. Altough Testberichte.de has had an online presence for the last 20 years, their users are lacking brand awareness and therefore Testberichte did not experience growth and returning users as expected.

Developing a new brand language

As a team of three designers, we explored a new visual language, built on insights from a brand workshop. The result was a cohesive and strong brand language that suits the company vision and mission.

Making product data comprehensible

The data for individual products that Testberichte.de provides reviews for, was always presented in a raw manner – illegible for most users. In order to make this data more meaningful, we developed a data sheet that includes the key attributes of a given product on top of the sheet in a bold font. Each of those attributes is accompanied by an assessment of wether the property is good, bad or average (green, yellow, red). More detailed information is provided when hovering over the icon.

Making navigating reviews easy

To help users find their desired product category, I improved the navigation menu of the website, which was not fit for purpose. With general categories like Computer or HiFi leading into more specific product categories, which get represented by small images, It provides a quick overview.
